58th Annual Mackinac Island
Lilac Festival Theme
Stories and poems from the golden age of the fairy tale have been selected as the theme for the 58th Annual Mackinac Island Lilac Festival. The Victorian Era created some of the most fantastical works of literature which are today timeless. These fairy tales speak of the character of man and while some amuse or enchant, other satirize and criticize. But, regardless of the way the authors speak to us, the overarching theme is always about love and the resilience of the human spirit. Some stories include Cinderella, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, The Wizard of Oz, Hansel and Gretel, Peter Pan and the Tale of Peter Rabbit.
